Robert Roberson: Texas Attorney General seeks Court to set an execution date

A recent article has reported that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has requested a new execution date for Robert Roberson, who was sentenced to death in Texas in 2023 for the death of his two year old daughter, Nikki. Prosecutors insisted she died of shaken baby syndrome, which is a diagnosis that has been debunked as junk science.

Mr Roberson’s lawyers have maintained that a district court cannot schedule a new execution date while there is an appeal pending. The appeal which was filed in February includes new expert opinions finding that Nikki’s shaken baby diagnosis was unsound and that the autopsy that concluded her death was a homicide was flawed.
