Indiana: invite debates over death penalty

Governor Mike Braun has indicated that lawmakers should weigh in on whether the state of Indiana should continue to retain the death penalty.

A recent article has reported that Indiana has depleted the supply of pentobarbital it uses in its lethal injection executions. The last doses purchased in December 2024, have since expired and went unused, to which Gov. Braun does not intend to renew the state’s supply.

The Governor cited concerns over the high costs associated with the drug, and short shelf-life.
