A queue for execution: Singapore’s tough stance on crime

A recent article has reported on Singapores rising number of executions and particularly, the execution of Pannir, who was hanged for a first-time drug offence.

The article reports that Pannir while on death row began reading and writing and publishing poetry, which offers insights into the feelings of those on death row.

It also discusses the advocacy by Kirsten Han, a journalist and activist who works with the families of inmates on death row, who said Pannir's family had worked "incredibly hard" to save his life, including campaigning, lobbying politicians and meeting with media and NGOs.
